Structural Snaps and Hints

AECOsim Building Designer's Structural application provides Structural Snaps developed specifically for placing and manipulating Structural members. Structural snaps replace default keypoint AccuSnaps behavior for Structural members. When the snap mode is set to keypoint (default mode), AccuSnap on Structural members ignores all the individual keypoints of elements comprising the Structural member graphics and work as if the Structural member was a line or a curve. Structural snaps reduce the number of mouse clicks needed to locate a specific point by providing immediate, visual feedback that identifies pointer location. Structural snaps eliminate many modeling errors caused by inexact placement of members.

Note: To view Structural snaps, you must have a Structural member selected.

Structural Hints — When enabled, a hints window containing structural member identification information is displayed at the snap location target. You can choose what information displays by changing the settings in the AccuSnap Hints section of the Structural Preferences . Those hints may include position, family name, part name, section name, placement point, rotation angle, structural attributes, and user-specified field information (with or without labels).
